President of United Republic of Tanzania, Dr Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete has said it’s his hope that everything will go as scheduled in National 2012 census which commenced on Sunday.
Dr Kikwete insisted people who threaten the government that will not appear for census should know they lose their own rights.
He said there is no strong reason for them not to be counted.
“I spoke to everyone, each group. I spoke to some of Islamic leaders, followers and even some people who call themselves as activists. There is one who has a strong reason why he or she doesn’t want census exercise.”
The president affirmed his Saturday’s speech that he had already ordered police force to make sure anyone who tries to disturb national peace faces legal action.
He also said there are other people who said they will hide into mosques, “even these Muslims will be counted because will they stay there forever? They must eat so they will get out and be counted.”
Tanzanian seven days census exercise commenced on Sunday and will be closed on 2Nd September, 2012.
