Christo has hundreds of followers around the world, including United Kingdom and France, some of whom live with him in his church, located on the outskirts of Brasilia.
Since 1979 he has traveled to 27 countries to spread his word, but due his controversial views he is expelled from the US, Britain and Venezuela, as revealed by MailOnline .
Most of the followers who live with him are women, and they have followed him for decades. The eldest is Abevere, 86, and she has been follower for 32 years. The youngest is 24 and first met him when she was just two years.
“I know that there are countless people scattered throughout Brazil and the world whose hearts beat together with mine,” say Inri.
He continued by explaining that first experienced of “revelation” that he experienced was during a religious fast in Santiago de Chile in 1979.
From childhood he had been following a powerful voice “that spoke in his head”, but it was only at that time when he received this message: “I am your Father. The God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob.”
He now runs his own church, ‘Soust’ (Suprema Ordem Universal da Santmssima Trindade), located in a rural area of Brasilia, which he calls “The New Jerusalem.”
He and his followers survive harvesting fruit, such as bananas, avocados and mangos, as well as a vegetable garden.
Some critics branded him as mentally ill, the charge he strongly denies.
“I may be crazy, but I’m not stupid,” he says.
“Insanity is different from dementia. It is the mother of philosophers, prophets and inventors.”
