The director of the International Police in Uganda, Asan Kasingye, said they are investigating circumstances under which musician Iryn Namubiru went through Entebbe Airport and flew to Japan with illicit drugs.

“We must investigate the Entebbe International Airport officials who scanned Namubiru’s luggage and let her through,” Kasingye said.
He was meeting, Thaddeus Mubiru, Namubiru’s’s manager and Balaam Barugaharra, her music promoter at his office in Kololo, Kampala.
Kasingye said he had written to his counterparts in Japan to send official communication, detailing the arrest; what kind of drugs were involved and how they were carried to Japan.
“We need to look at the statement Namubiru recorded in Japan. We have already sent a letter to our counterparts and are waiting for their reply so that we can proceed,” Kasingye said in an interview.
He said after getting details from Japan, they will decide on how to go about her case.
Kasingye said Namubiru was not on their list of people involved in illicit drugs.
Namubiru was arrested last Friday for allegedly being in possession of illicit drugs.
It was reported that several drug pellets were concealed in the ground nuts she had in her luggage. She had reportedly travelled to Japan for a concert.
