Dorcus Inzikuru has of late failed to deliver in a number of international competitions. But that does not mean she is not good enough to represent Uganda in the Africa Cross Country Championship due in March, 2014 at Kololo airstrip.

The 3000 steeplechase gold medalist at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki Finland and 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games was named on the team of 55 athletes that start training in preparation for the continental meet.
UAF released the names of athletes named for the event that include 16 senior men, 12 senior women, nine junior men and eight junior women based on their performances in previous competitions.
“We want them to have a feel of the area, so that they gain an advantage over their opponents that is why we want them to start early preparations,” UAF official Faustino Kiwa told Sunday Vision.
Kiwa said that the event will attract the continent’s top athletes and Uganda would wish to prove that it is a power house in long distance races.
“This championship is going to attract Africa’s top athletes including Ethiopia’s Kenenisa Bekele who has confi rmed his participation and we would like our boys to be set for him,” Kiwa added.
The senior men’s team to be coached by Abdallah Muhammad includes Olympics and World Championships marathon gold medalist Stephen Kiprotich, Moses Kipsiro, Timothy Toroitich, Thomas Ayeko, Philip Kiplimo, Geoffrey Kusuro, Philip Kipyego, Soyekwo Kibet, Nathan Ayieko, Peter Kibet, Solomon Mutai, Moses Kibet, Jacob Araptany, Patrick Cherotwo, Cheptuker Difas and Ronald Musagala
