Tumwesigye was arrested Monday night at Rubaga Road at 11p.m after being trailed by Police in a special operation.

“Yes we arrested him and are handing over to the Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department for further interrogation,” Charles Kataratambi, the police head of Flying Squad said.

Last week the head of Interpol in Uganda Asan Kasingye told New Vision online that they had recorded statements from Kim and musician Iryn Namubiru arrest in Japan recently.

Namubiru was arrested allegedly with drugs after landing at the Narita International Airport where she had gone to perform for the Ugandan community.

“I was given a suitcase together with wrapped portraits to take for him in Japan. I did not know that there were drugs I was carrying. When I reached Japan I was given a form to fill in which I was supposed to declare if I was carrying luggage for anyone. After filling in the forms, Japanese immigration officials who checked my luggage pulled me aside and said I was under detention.”

It later emerged that Kim and his associates had stashed drugs in the hollow frames of the portraits and also created a fake bottom in the suitcase.
