Two people, including a man who was beaten by his wife, died in separate incidents in Dar es Salaam and Mbeya city on Wednesday.
In one of the incidents a man identified as Godlove Joshua (aged between 25 and 30) died in a road accident at Chanika in Ilala Municipality on Wednesday midnight.
The Ilala Regional Police Commander (RPC), Ms Marietha Minangi, revealed that the deceased, who was riding a motorbike with registration numbers T 447 BLW, died after he rammed into a motor vehicle with registration numbers T 957 ATD which was travelling in the same direction.
RPC Minangi added that Joshua died in hospital where he was admitted after sustaining injuries. The body of the deceased is preserved at Amana Hospital pending burial arrangements, while police are hunting for the vehicle and the driver who disappeared from the scene.
In another incident, a man identified as Silvester Chikondo (55), a resident of Chunya in Mbeya, died after he was hit by his wife, Husulina Kornel (42), using a mace in Isenye Village in Chunya District.
The Mbeya Regional Police Commander (RPC), Mr Diwani Athumani, revealed that the deceased was beaten by his wife with the help of her son identified as Kondo Chikondo (19), at their home soon after they arrived from a local liquor shop.
RPC Athumani added that the woman hit her husband on the face after she had seen him standing with another woman at the club. The postmortem shows that the deceased suffered brain damage and police are hunting for the wife and her son who disappeared from the scene.
