Jim apologizes for making offensive comments, but he does not change his opinion, saying, ‘Calling [people] names is inappropriate but my position on assault weapons hasn’t changed.’

Jim Carrey is sorry for verbal assault he launched against riffle owners. In a series of Twitter posts, the “Bruce Almighty” actor apologizes to “assault rifle fans” for calling them names. However, the actor added that he would not change his stand concerning gun control.
“[Assault] rifle fans, I do not agree [with] u, nor do I fear u but I do love u and I’m sorry [that] in my outrage I called you names. That was wrong,” he wrote on July 7. He continued, “[By the way] I don’t need a crisis [manager], just a conscience. Calling [people] names is inappropriate but my position on assault weapons hasn’t changed.”
Jim has been vocal in voicing his opinion about gun control. The “Yes Man” actor started taking aim at gun owners in July 2012 following Denver movie theater massacre. “My love to the victims in Colorado. The kid [was sick] but u who can still support automatic weapon sales [are] the real maniacs in this country,” he wrote.
Later, the 51-year-old actor made a song and a music video for comedy video website “Funny or Die” in March. ” ‘Cold Dead Hand’ is [about] u heartless mother******s unwilling 2 bend 4 the safety of our kids. Sorry if you’re offended,” he tweeted at that time.
Jim recently announced that he withdrew his support for his latest project “Kick-Ass 2″ because of the violent theme. “I did ‘Kickass’ a month [before] Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence,” he tweeted in June. “My apologies… to others involve[d] with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart,” he added.
