District Executive Directors (DEDs) in seven districts of Muleba, Bukoba, Biharamulo, Ngara, Misenyi, Kyerwa and Karagwe have been challenged to ensure that the target of collecting revenue is realized.
Kagera Regional Commissioner (RC), Fabian Massawe
Kagera Regional Commissioner (RC), Mr Fabian Massawe, made the appeal during the Regional Consultative Committee (RCC) meeting held in Bukoba Municipality on Thursday.
According to Mr Massawe, the region’s target was to collect a total of 146bn/- during 2013/14. However, he said, until December 31, last year only 4.5bn/- had been collected, implying a 34.7 per cent.
“We have to pull up our socks to ensure that the target is realized,” he said. A report tabled before the RCC meeting indicate that until December 31, last year Karagwe district had collected 54 per cent, Biharamulo had collected 46.5 per cent while Bukoba had collected 36.3 per cent.
Misenyi had collected 34 per cent, Bukoba Municipality (32 per cent), Kyerwa (31.8 per cent), Muleba (24 per cent) while Ngara had only collected 18 per cent.
