Young Africans played the best brand of football and nobody should be surprised that the Jangwani Street-based side have been rewarded with the League title this year, according to the club’s main sponsors, Kilimanjaro Premium Lager.

Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Brand Manager George Kavishe said this when awarding Yanga a 25m/- bonus for winning the 2012/2013 Mainland Premier League.
He said that his brand was pleased with the performance of the team and it was fully committed to supporting the newly crowned champions as they won a fiercely competitive league.
“Yanga have been playing great football throughout the season and it is no surprise that they have emerged as Tanzania champions,” Kavishe said.
He congratulated Yanga players, the coaching staff as well as the club management for their remarkable achievement — winning a record 24th league title. Kavishe said the cash bonus is part of a 1.5bn/- sponsorship package the club signed with the sponsor and is aimed at encouraging the club to strive for more triumphs and to assist the club in its preparations for international tournaments.
Yanga will represent the country in both the CECAFA Club championship and Africa Champions League. Receiving the cheque on behalf of his club, Yanga Secretary General, Lawrence Mwalusako said the team appreciated the generous support from Kilimanjaro Premium Lager. “Yanga is a strong team because it has strong backing from Kilimanjaro Premium Lager brand.
Our success on the field mirrors the success of the company and the brand that supports us,” Mwalusako said. He said the liquor brewing company has played a significant part in giving their team the inspiration it needed to succeed.
“Yanga now have the opportunity to shine on the international stage and build on their local success,” Mwalusako said adding, “With this sponsorship, we will continue to grow and succeed.”
Yanga’s archrivals Simba, who are also sponsored by Kilimanjaro Premium Lager, missed out on a 15m/- bonus due to their failure to finish in second place, a prerequisite to get the money as stipulated in the contract the clubs entered with the company.
Two-time CECAFA Kagame Cup defending champions Yanga will be trying to win their third title in a row in Sudan next month. They have been drawn in Group C alongside Express from Uganda, Ports of Djibouti and Burundi champions Vitalo.
