Speaking in handover event held at KCMC Hospital in Moshi-Kilimanjaro, KCB Tanzania Moshi branch Manager, Mr Lomnyaki Saitabua said the grant was a continuation of the support that the bank gave KCMC Referral Hospital last year.

“Last year we rehabilitated Mothers’ Intensive-care unit room for more than 11 Mil. I was informed that the room was ready but there were no equipment, I noticed that there is a need of providing money for equipment in order to make money released last year, not lost in vain.” said Mr Saitabua.

The Manager said his bank has decided to provide assistance realizing the importance of supporting the government in reducing maternal and infant mortality rates and to ensure that the millennium goals in health sector are achieved by 2015.

Receiving the check, KCMC Acting Director, Prof Raimos Olomi said the grant will help to reduce maternal and children deaths in hospital as the two groups’ deaths are still taking place every day.

He said a great and collective effort is needed to reduce those deaths and it can be achieved through support of various stakeholders such as the KCB Tanzania.
