Speaking yesterday at KICC a day after the National Assembly passed the draconian Bill that opens doors to the stifling of free media, the AG said he expected to see it next week. Once the document lands on his desk, the AG said, he would evaluate it and brief the President.
“We haven’t seen the final version of the Bill. When we do, we are going to evaluate the nature of the product and advise the President accordingly and appropriately as per the Constitution,” the AG said shortly after attending an exhibition of the Kenya Copyright Board.
Githu said it was still premature for the public to be worried about the Bill.
His remarks came against a backdrop of outrage from players in the media industry and pro-democracy groups that the last-minute amendments to the Bill were oppressive.
