Hosts Kenya rallied to win all events in the under 12 category in the Confederations of Africa Tennisand ITF 2013 junior circuit held at the Nairobi Club recently.
Ryan Randiek proved he is the best boy beating his doubles partner Albert Njogu 5-7 6-4 6-2 in a tough encounter that seemed like a repeat of the first leg final.
‘‘I am very happy to have won both legs of the tournament, my plan is to win every tournament I participate in,” a very excited Randiek said.
The girls under 12 final saw Kenya`s Angela Nyangweso beat first leg winner Mwamini Bitungwa of Burundi 6-1 3-6 6-1 to clinch the top spot.
The boy under 12 doubles was also a repeat of the first leg final pitting the Randiek and Njogu against Moses Mwaura and Allan Mukabane. Randiek and Njogu beat Mwaura and Mukabane 6-4 6-2 to clinch their second leg victory, their second of the tournament.
Vanessa Egessa and Angela Nyangweso secured their second doubles win following their first leg victory. They beat Rwandans Clenia Niyonshima and Evelyn Kwizera in two straight sets of 6-1 6-1.
‘‘I feel very nice for the double victory. My singles match was very tough but I gave it my best and won. Am also very happy to have won the first leg doubles title,” Nyangweso said.
The under 14 girls final saw Burundians Sada Nahimana and Mariam Mujawimana battle it out in a match that earned Nahimana her second victory in the singles category. Nahimana beat Mujawimana 6-4 7-5 in a very thrilling encounter. In the toughest encounter of the tournament, Tanzania battled against Burundi in the boys under 14 final.
First leg winner Mallya Nicodemo of Tanzania beat Burundian Radjabu Ntamba 4-6 6-4 6-3 to earn his second victory.
