Kenya’s infrastructure is set to grow from next year following the commitment by Chinese leading corporations to support various infrastructure projects to a tune of $12 billion.

The project is to be undertaken by the China Petroleum Technology and Development Corporation (CPTDC) through the Ministry of Energy.
Adra International was among many Kenyan companies that were in China during President UhuruKenyatta’s visit in August.
Several companies drawn from the transport, energy, agriculture, tourism, education signed Memorandum of Understandings with Chinese firms.
Adra International also signed MoU with China Railway Number 2 Engineering Group Limited (CREGC) for the Nairobi-Kampala Railway Project inKenya.
The proposed project will see the construction of a modern railway line running from Mombasa through Eldoret to Malaba border and eventually to Kampala.
The agreements were signed between the company officials and Chinese representatives where the parties agreed on possibilities of working together in areas of construction on offshore refinery in Mombasa and upgrading of the oil pipelines within the country.
The company is the largest supplier of power cables, conductors, railway signaling cables and equipment such as cranes. The company is expected to be the local representatives of Chinese giants when they land in Kenya.
Working relations
Adra International boss Raj Harikrishna said the signing of MoU’s was the beginning of long term working relationships adding that the talks were “the beginning of a win-win chapter for the parties involved.”
“The negotiations are still private at this stage, but anything happening now is a demonstration of the government to improve infrastructure and economy as a whole,” said Harikrishna.
