The event dubbed ‘Mkesha Mkubwa’ aims at praying for the nation’s peace and harmony which will be held at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam starting at 8pm till mid night.

Various religious leaders are expected to take part and will also pray for other nations that have diplomatic ties with Tanzania.

“We are doing this because Tanzania is a peaceful country and loves its neighbours,” said the chairperson of the preparation committee who is also the Bishop of the Tanzania Fellowship Church, Mr Godfrey Emmanuel.

Other guests who will join the president will be ambassadors from 34 countries including America, Kenya, Congo and Zambia, among others.

Bishop Emmanuel added that the event is also organised in other 18 regions including Mwanza at Kirumba Stadium, Dodoma (Jamuhuri Stadium), Tanga, Zanzibar, Njombe, Pemba, Musoma, Tabora, Mtwara, Lindi, Ruvuma, Arusha, Simiyu, Mbeya, Shinyanga, Songea, Moshi, Singida and Mbeya.

“The main thing we have been praying for is peace and harmony because they are important parts for our development; true peace comes from God and the eve is the day we will cry to God to grant us that peace by the help of Bible verses.””

“It’s not just praying but receiving answers for our prayers,” said Bishop Emmanuel. “Every human being needs help from God in his or her life and for this nation to excel we need to include God and the purpose of inviting the president is because the prayers are for the nation and he stands representing the nation to God as well,” added Bishop Emmanuel.
