The Secretary General of Chama Cha Mapinduzi, Mr Abdulrahman Kinana, on Monday urged party leaders to be open and ensure a win-win situation in all development project contracts.
Mr Kinana said this on Monday shortly after he had laid a foundation stone for the party’s development project in Nzega town. The project involves the construction of 54 stalls in the front area of Samora Stadium, each of which will cost 3,100,000.
“I am happy with the move to construct these kiosks with the intention to enable the party stand on its own feet financially, but I would like leaders to ensure that in so doing the party is benefiting accordingly,” he said.
Mr Kinana noted that the party would only be strong with its own sources of funds, adding that over-dependence on donors will weaken it.The party leader, who made a stopover at Nzega town on his way to Shinyanga, Simiyu and Mara regions, said party leaders should also ensure that there is openness in all project undertakings.
He added that all the revenues generated from such projects should be spent on strengthening the party and members should be informed on the expenditure.
“We are determined to fulfill all the electoral pledges we made during our campaign. I also urge you to work closely with your party leaders, most of whom are young and energetic,” he said.
The CCM District Secretary for Finance and Economic Affairs, Mr Majaliwa Bilali, said the project was being carried out in partnership with businesspeople.
“We intend to construct 54 kiosks and this work will be done by businesspeople where each will cost 3,100,000/-.
The funds will be repaid through rent, it is expected that each kiosk will bring in 75,000/- rent per month, out of which 50,000/- will be for repayment of the loan and 25,000/- will be directed to the party,” he said.
He added that the project will be completed in December 2013 and that it will be of great importance in strengthening the party economically.
“I assure you that the project will be completed in time and we are determined to cancel the contract for any person who will fail to finish in time,” he said.
In another development, Mr Kinana showered praise on Nzega legislator, Dr Hamis Kigwangala for his hard-working spirit. He was speaking at a public rally held at CCM Nzega District office grounds where Dr Kigwangala handed over nine motorbikes and promised to continue donating to the party until all the 21 wards in the district were covered.
“My intention is to enable party leaders at the ward level move smoothly in their activities of serving the people in their respective areas. These bikes will remain the party’s property,” said Dr Kigwangala.
