Kiyovu beat Mukura to close a gap at the top

Kiyovu Sports beat Mukura Victory Sport 1-0 on Saturday at Stade de Kigali to move to within three points of the new leaders, APR FC who won 2-1 away against Amagaju.

Second-placed AS Kigali can reclaim top spot if they beat defending champions Rayon Sports today.

Kiyovu’s lone goal was scored by Ugandan striker Julius Bakkabulindi through a penalty in the seventh minute after the Mukura defender pulled down midfielder Christian Mbirizi inside the box.

Gilbert Kanyankore Yaounde’s side was outpaced for the bigger part of the game but the visitors couldn’t find the back of the net with strikers Hussein Ciza Mugabo and Claude Nahimana the main culprits.

Elsewhere, Amagaju continue their poor run after losing 1-2 to the 13-time champions APR in Nyamagabe. Charles Tibingana Mwesigye scored the opener for the army side on 27th minutes before Jean De Dieu Hakazimana equalized for the home team in the 63th minutes before Ernest Sugire scored the winner for APR with 25 minutes left.

The game between Espoir and visiting Police in Rusizi ended goalless.
