Tanzania Distilleries Limited (TDL) has unveiled Knight Whisky, a new product for both the local distilled alcohol beverage market and for export.
“We are really excited about and proud of Knights Whisky. We believe it will enable us to further reignite the whiskey category and allow the brand to attract new consumers,” TDL company’s Managing Director, Mr David Mgwasa, told journalists in Dar es Salaam.
“It will encourage consumers to relook at whiskey and inspire them to experiment, responsibly of course, with a category they may not have explored before,” he said. Mr Mgwasa said the new product would be bottled with attractive labels, specially designed to cater for the growing demand of the whisky in local and international level.
According to Mgwasa, the new product will be sold by a proposed retail price of Tsh 17,000/- for a loaded bottle of 700ml and Tsh 6,000/- for 200ml. Mr Mgwasa said Knights whisky is would be available in all hotels, bars and other outlets at affordable price. He noted that the whisky is matured for almost three years under supervision of specialised professionals.
On her part, Knights Whisky Brand Manager, Ms Diana Musheruzi said the beverage had got a silver award during the international wines and spirit awards in 2011.
Tanzania Distilleries Limited is the foremost supplier of wines, spirits and liqueurs in Tanzania. As well as producing Konyagi, TDL also manufactures a range of local spirits including Vladimir Vodka.
