Uganda rugby Lady Cranes depart tonight ahead of their Rugby World Cup qualifier against South Africa Lady Springboks.
The match will be played at Buffalo City Stadium in East London, Eastern Cape this Saturday.
The Lady Cranes edged their Kenyan counterparts in June during the second leg of the Elgon Cup that was played at Kyadondo Rugby club.
The thrilling tie that left the Kenyan ladies in tears ended 13-8 in favour of the Lady Cranes. Uganda won the Elgon cup 30-26 on aggregate.
The Saturday match against the Lady Springboks will by all means be one mean encounter.
The South African outfit will be gunning for the final place in next year’s World Cup in France and the right to represent Africa on the World Cup stage for the third tournament in a row!
A handful of their team also participated in the Rugby World Cup Sevens in Russia in June this year.
The Lady Cranes have had a couple of build matches playing against men teams to fine tune them for the crucial match.
The side though will miss Winnie Atyang whose reputation for hard tackling the Lady Springboks will very much be glad to survive. Winnie has missed much of this season with an injury to her scapular she sustained during training in May.
