On the second day of the celebrations, the top management of the revenue authority led by the Deputy Commissioner General Mr Rished Bade, TRA employees donated the facilities and participated in cleaning the heath centre.
“The taxpayers’ week is an annual event accompanied by various activities where TRA employees visit, serve and support various needy projects in the society,” he noted.
Mr Rished said during the taxpayers’ week, the same arrangements are being done in some parts of the country to show that TRA is not only about revenue collections but also works and serves the society in different ways.
Dr Michael Salla, the Health Centre Incharge said the medical items provided by TRA would bring about great improvement in provision of health services to an average of 40 to 50 patients attending at the centre every day.
Also there are about 40 women who deliver monthly, thus with the amenities, services will be improved to a great extent to ensure maternal death is tamed.
Some of the common diseases in the area include worms, malaria and pneumonia in children. One of the challenges facing the health centre is insufficient number of staff, where the centre has only 11 medical experts to serve all the patients.
Some of the items donated at the event included autoclave machines, microscope, binocular Olympus, adjustable stretcher and oxygen extractor.
The Mkuranga District Commissioner Ms Messy Silla thanked TRA for the donation, saying it would improve health provision to the villagers at Mkamba village, in Mkuranga District.
“We are fortunate to be chosen to receive the donation of health facilities from TRA; we assure them that their aid would bring about improvement in the health of the people in the area,” she said.
