Kenya: The political future of former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka was subject of discussion during a meeting held in Naivasha by MPs and senators allied to the Wiper Democratic Movement.

A section of Ukambani leaders continued to pile pressure on the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to honour the agreement he had with the Kalonzo of going for only one term and supporting him in 2017.

But Kitui Senator David Musila said the issue was premature because elections were still four years away.

“Yes the issue came up during our caucus meeting but we agreed that the matter should not bother us at the moment since we are still four years away from the General Election,” said Musila.

Musila dismissed MPs who brought up the issue as members hell-bent on causing chaos in CORD.

MPs from the region led by Mbooni MP Kisoi Munyao, asked Raila to allow Kalonzo to be the automatic CORD presidential candidate and support his bid.

“Kalonzo tirelessly supported Raila for the top seat in last year’s General Election and the former PM should reciprocate by backing him come 2017,” said Munyao.

A few MPs and senators, who spoke on the sidelines of the CORD Parliamentary Group meeting expressed their dissatisfaction on how Wiper was being treated in the coalition.
