For the first time ever the Nane Nane Agriculture Fair will this year be held at Ngongo exhibition grounds in Lindi Region.
The festival, arranged by the Tanzania Agricultural Society (TASO) in partnership with the government, is expected to be launched on August 1, this year and reach its peak on August 8.
TASO appealed to Southern Zone farmers and leaders to start preparing for the Nane Nane Agriculture Fair, as it was important for them to participate in order to ensure its success.
“TASO encourages all the people, especially farmers, livestock keepers and those engaged in fishing to start preparing themselves for the fair,” said TASO Chairman, Mr Engelbery Moyo.
The main objective of the fair is to improve the level of agriculture, fishing and livestock keeping in the nation, added Mr Moyo.
He said there was need for farmers to preserve the environment and praised them for their immense contribution to the nation’s economic growth.
The Nane Nane agriculture show aims at educating farmers on proper farming and livestock keeping methods, especially for smallholder farmers.
Mr Moyo said the fair also gives business people an opportunity to advertise their products and services with a view to expanding their markets.
