Disheartened by exclusion from the MPU Rally in Masaka last weekend, Ponsiano Lwakataka has given up on the 2013 National Rally Championship contest.

Lwakataka who showed up late from scrutineering fumed that if it were some other competitor officials would have been lenient.
“Nobody is perfect and sometimes officials are lenient to
other drivers and I never complain. Fellow competitors insisted that I be disqualified which is so disheartening,” Lwakataka told New Vision Sport.
“I joined the sport to enjoy myself and make friends but not to fight people. I have decided to give up the national championship.”
The driver said that he would in the meantime compete in sprints to entertain his fans.
Lwakataka added, “I have been in this sport for 13 years but I have never protested against a fellow competitor and I find this kind of rivalry strange.
“The environment is not friendly. If I remain in the championship something will somehow come up when I win in future.”
Ronald Ssebuguzi leads the annual championship with 186 points.
