Uganda’s National champion Jas Mangat mesmerised fans with pace and precision in his new Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 10 in the Martyrs Day Rally over the weekend but that was just a rehearsal if you asked him.

Mangat described the race as a successful test that enabled him adjust to the car ahead of the Tanzania Rally later this month. He switched from a Subaru N12.
“I think I only powered the car in just two sections. The rest I was just calm. I am satisfied with its performance. In Tanzania I will push it to something like 80% performance, step up in the Kenya Safari and Pearl Rally here,” Mangat told New Vision Sport.
Mangat who is vying for the Africa Rally Championship having scored 15 points in the Zambia Rally is targeting for the national and Africa titles this season. Mangat will face off with Rwandan Davite Giancarlo and Zambians Jassy Singh and Mohammed Essa who is Africa champion.
“Essa has changed to a new Subaru which is R4 like my Mitsubishi. I am satisfied with the performance of this car and let’s wait and see what happens in Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda,” Mangat stated.
Mangat who leads the national championship beat second placed Wycliff Bukenya by over three minutes.
Arthur Blick finished third while Ssebuguzi, Christakis Fitidis and Duncan Mubiru finished fourth, fifth and sixth respectively.
