Manyara Regional Commissioner, Mr Elaston Mbwilo, has been overwhelmed by the response from potential investors who attended a two-day Manyara Investment Forum held at Kwaraha grounds in Babati.
Mr Mbwilo had predicted that the region would prove a bright investment destination and this was borne out by the interest shown by a number of entrepreneurs to invest in the region.
“It has been a good forum as more than five investors have come up with proposals to invest in salt making, hotels, ranches and agro-business in our region” he said.
He said they will sit together with the district authorities to look into it how they will accommodate the investors as well as engage the communities so that both sides benefit from the investment.
Earlier, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (Investment and Empowerment), Dr Mary Nagu, challenged local government authorities to discard the business-as-usual attitude, which she said frustrated investors.
Instead, she said they should be keen and sharp to deal with investors and public complaints if they were to attain the needed benefits. She said unnecessary bureaucracy frustrated investors and so it should be done away with when dealing with potential investors.
