Manyara Regional Commissioner, Mr Elaston Mbwilo has called upon investors to grab a wide range of investment opportunities the region has, to add value to agricultural products.
Mr Mbwilo made the call in Dar es Salaam when announcing Manyara Regional Investment Forum to be held on August 22 and 23, this year, which Prime Minister, Mr Mizengo Pinda will officiate.
He said they decided to organize the forum, to be attended by various local and foreign stakeholders, which will give them the chance to know opportunities the region has so that they can choose areas of investment.
Mr Mbwilo said that during the forum they will insist on interested partners to invest in industries which will add value to farming and animal keeping products.
He was optimistic that with the support they are enjoying from the Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC) in organizing the forum, they will be able to attract investors who will open industries in mill grinding, dairy processing, skin products such as shoes, handbags, cooking oil, beef products and ranches.
“The pastoralists and farmers produce a lot, but they are not enjoying the value of their labour, since they sell their products raw. It’s the processors who benefit at the end of the day,” he said.
It is through the forum, he said, such investors who when given the chance to know the available opportunities, they will choose Manyara.
TIC Acting Director of Investment Promotion, Mr John Mathew Mnali said the majority of investors have been flocking Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Mwanza and Tanga. He said they decided to embark on a promotion drive to ensure investors know of investment opportunities in other parts of the country.
