After being impressed by Cranes’ majestic performance against Senegal on Saturday night, President Yoweri Museveni has pledged more support for the national football team and its faithful.
The President, who chartered a flight to ensure that Uganda fans travel to Marrakesh and support the Cranes, was impressed with the team’s performance despite their 1-0 defeat to the Lions of Teranga.
Museveni, who was often updated on the events in Marrakesh, revealed his vote of confidence through State House official Norah Nassimbwa.
Nassimbwa was in charge of the fans in Marrakesh that included among others Members of Parliament.
“The report the President received on fans discipline was so good. State House will continue supporting Uganda Sports and our appeal is for the Uganda Sportsmen to continue shining to guarantee more rewards and facilitation,” said Nassimbwa.
Museveni fully sponsored the trip to Morocco, taking care of the fans travel visa fees of $120 (sh260,000).
“It was all courtesy of the President. We are going to vibe a good report about the passion and love that was shown.
“I am sure he will continue with this support,” Sports Commissioner Omara Apita said.
