Uganda’s ladies golf team finished third overall in the Regional All Africa Challenge Trophy in Lusaka, Zambia but Flavia Namakula still gave Kampala entrants reason to stick their heads out.
Namakula carded 78, 75 and 78 to claim the tournament’s individual accolade.
While Zambia celebrated the end of two-time champions Tanzania’s dominance of the tournament, Namakula carded 78, 75 and 78 to claim the tournament’s individual accolade.
“Being the best player in this competition, I take the individual prize. I am so happy I played so well,”
Namakula stated before the prize-giving ceremony on Tuesday.
Namakula and her teammates Jasper Kamukama, Eva Magala and Irene Nakalembe finished 17 strokes behind second placed Tanzania.
Tanzania had won the previous two editions of the East and Central Africa regional tournament.
The tournament is intended to help teams in their various regions to prepare for the All Africa Challenge Trophy.
Kenya, Reunion Island and Malawi were fourth, fifth and sixth respectively in the three-day tournament.
