Faith Galadima, a 16-year-old student of Governent Secondary School, Tunga, Niger State, gives birth a baby boy. Her school’s vice principal Mohammed Mohammed was alleged earlier to had impregnated the teenager. He is now on bail following three months of custody.
Talkking to the media the school girl said the baby was born on October 28 at Injita village, Munya Local Government Area of Niger State, and during her pregnancy period she was not given any assistance from the school VP.
In a filed report it is learned the VP slept with the girl in March this year. Police detained Mohammed and he was produced in the court on April 4, 2017. Currently he standing trial on charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with a child and impregnating a girl student.
After three months of custody he was granted bail by presiding magistrate Fatima Auna against a sum of N1m as per sections 35 and 36 of the 1999 constitution as well as sections 341 and 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Faith Galadima meanwhile has asked the government to enable her education continuity.
Speaking to the journalists on Tuesday she said, “I am not happy that I am now a mother at this tender age; but I will not allow the incident to shatter my dream of becoming a nurse.”
Faith’s mother, Haruna Galadima, said school girls should be committed to their studies and report their parents or school authorities against any kind of abuse by others.
She also urged the government to help Faith continue her studies.
