Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari is yet to return back home from London where he is undergoing regular health checkups. Amid the situation his only surviving sister Rakiya Adamu appealed to the nation to pray for the leader and not to spread rumors about his health.
Adamu said in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Daura, Katsina State, she talks to the 84-year-old every day since he has left for London.
She appealed to the Nigerians to pray for the president so that he succeed in the task of addressing the problems facing the nation.
The sister added, “I just returned from the lesser Hajj and even while in Saudi Arabia, I was communicating with him daily.”
Called as Amadodo, the sister said she had communicated with her brother at an interval of every 10 hours while she was in Saudi Arabia.
Adamu said, “We were 28 from our mother, late Hajiya Zulaihatu, who died in 1992, but Buhari was her last born.”
Earlier on Sunday the president’s spokesperson Femi Adesina released a statement to the National Assembly saying the 74-year-old awaits completing and receiving the results of several health tests which were recommended by his doctors.
Buhari was scheduled to return on Sunday after his 10-day holiday clubbed with routine health checkup.
Buhari became President in May 2015 and ahead of it rumor spread he may not be physically fit for the office.
Last time the president visited London for health reason was in June 2016.
