Business came to a standstill in Busia town when boda boda operators held a peaceful demonstration to lament the increased Cases of insecurity in the town.
Led by their chairman Eric Makokha, the operators called for removal of Busia OCPD Kenneth Kimani whom they accused of failing to contain security menace in the border town, “Security has become poor in this town and we are being targeted by thugs who are maiming us daily and run away with out motor bikes,” stated Makokha who said the vices have passed a big risk to their business which they depend on to fend for their families, “This is the only employment we have and we depend on it to feed out families and if the crimes against us continue then we may lack food on top of being killed.”
The most recent crime against the operators is of yesterday where thugs who were armed with crude weapons attacked a boda boda at eight in the evening and pierced his eyes before making away with his motor bike.
The incident occurred one week after another operator was killed by thugs and his motor bike taken away in Burumba estate Busia town.
