Nyabihu sets up investment group

Residents of Nyabihu living and working around the country have formed Nyabihu Investment Group, with the aim of  championing the district’s development.

Senator Evariste Bizimana, who heads the group, told attendants at the weekend that they will help develop the district since money raised through fundraising drives will be used in infrastructure development.

“We need infrastructure such as hotels and other hospitality facilities, as well as factories among other developmental projects,” said Bizimana.

Over Rwf500 million, an equivalent of 1,000 shares, was pledged as capital and will have been paid by June next year. The founders plan to register the group with Rwanda Development Board by July.

A Private Sector Federation report, released recently, says a special project is needed to provide technical assistance for investment groups in provinces to help them succeed.

The report says many of the groups which have been created in different districts are still collecting contributions from those who pledged and have not been able to launch business projects in their plans.
