The five boys are all on hand for the promotional effort of their first movie, to be released August 30 in the U.S.
One Direction makes sure that no photocall can compare with the one for their upcoming movie. On Monday, August 19, all five members of the group came to Big Sky Studios in London, England to promote “One Direction: This Is Us”, which gives fans behind-the-scene moments during the five heartthrobs’ first world tour as a band.
With a bucket of popcorn in their hands, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan knew what to do with it. The room was suddenly turned into a complete mess as the boys threw those buckets around, aiming at the photographers. Director Morgan Spurlock only watched it from behind.
During a press conference, Styles said that this movie allowed him and his bandmates to present themselves in a more realistic manner. “There is only so much you can get across in terms of your personality, you know, social media and like 10-minute interviews you do with people,” the curly boy explained, as quoted by Reuters.
“So I think … [it’s] a way for us to get across what we are like and what we are like with each other for the fans to see,” he added. Spurlock chimed in, “Part of the reason I think they have been so successful with their fans is that they are so incredibly grounded and normal and that’s what comes off in the movie, there’s no air of superiority.”
Due out August 30 in the U.S., “This Is Us” will throw its U.K. premiere on Tuesday. The boys will be joined by their Syco record label boss, Simon Cowell.
