One killed, 14 injured in Kicukiro grenade blast

One person was killed and 14 others were hurt in a grenade blast last evening in Kigali.

The incident took place near Kicukiro centre market, in a place known as Corridor at around 7pm.

According to police, the injured were rushed to King Faisal Hospital and University Teaching Hospital Kigali (CHUK).

Police spokesperson ACP Damas Gatare said three people were arrested in connection with the deadly incident as investigations continue.

Police did not readily provide the names of the deceased but eye witnesses said he was a casual labourer.

Police urged the public to remain calm and to cooperate with security organs to ensure that all the suspects behind the blast are brought to book.

This is the second grenade blast within a period of less than two months, the last one having taken place near Nyabugogo abattoir on July 27 which killed two people and injured several others.
