Brian Masaba put Nile on the verge of winning their first Multiple Industries cricket league match of the season, but watched on helplessly as Charity snatched an unlikely victory by 2 wickets with 2 balls to spare.
But the dramatic day was over shadowed by the unsporting behaviour of Patidar who walked off in their game against star studded Tornado B at Kyambogo Oval.
With Tornado B putting on 237 for Patidar to chase, the match was prematurely brought to a halt in the 33rd over with Patidar having made 131 runs for the loss of eight wickets.
It is here that Patidar players accused the umpire of bias and stormed off in unison.
“We have forwarded the case to the Games committee for action. It will be up to them to decide on the action with consideration that such antics bring the game into disrepute,” said the cricket association administrative secretary Martin Ondeko.
The action though was at Lugogo Oval where Nile looked destined for a win after a brilliant half century from David Musoke (64) and Brian Masaba’s quick fire 12 at the backend of the innings propelled the total to 155.
Jackson Ogwang (4/30) and Derrick Bakunzi (2/13) were the pick of the bowlers for Charity as they restricted Nile to a manageable total.
Masaba looked to have skittled Charity’s run chase picking up 4 wickets for 23 runs with the kelp of Geoffrey Gandi (3/55), but Derrick Bakunzi (29) and Jonathan Ssebanja (36) helped to set the foundation that steered Charity to the unlikely win with 2 balls left.
Wanderers Ham Kayondo hit 89 runs and Dennis Musali (27) as they set 188 runs for Rounders to chase, before an average bowling with Trevor Kapere (2/28) helped them shove off Irishad Suleman (29) and Duka Nene (30)- Rounders best bowlers as the team was all out at 152 runs.
