Precision Air (PW) has slashed by a quarter the fare between Dar es Salaam and Mbeya in a new promotional drive to retain its market lead, days after FastJet started selling tickets for November scheduled flights on the same route.
Under the promo-fare, PW passengers will enjoy tax inclusive fare of 249,000/- for a return ticket from the previous 325,000/- and 149,000/- for a one-way against the 217,000/- charged earlier. According to PW, the promotion will start on October 1 through November 30, this year.
FastJet, the low cost carrier, has announced plans to fly the route, effective November 1, 2013, three times a week against PW’s daily frequencies.
But, PW Commercial Director Patrick Ndekana attributed the introduction of the promo-fare to the fact that the airline remains the sole scheduled airline operating daily flights between Dar and Mbeya.
Precision Air has seen its Dar-Mbeya flights increasing from three weekly early January to daily flights. Apart from the promo fares, passengers will enjoy an allowance of 23- kilogramme baggage. “…
And they can even get further lower rates by booking through our website,” the Commercial Director said. Precision Air has also introduced new morning flights from Mwanza to Dar es Salaam to serve businesspeople catching up with business deals in Dar es Salaam.
The flight, which will operate on Wednesdays and Fridays, starts today, with the plane leaving Mwanza at 06:00 am and arriving in Dar at 08:30 am.
“We believe this additional frequency will have great impact on our customers who travel between these two destinations,” said Mr Ndekana.
FastJet has said on its Facebook fun-page that it had huge demand from customers on the Dar-Mbeya route, which the government has improved by providing fuel at Songwe Airport to enable Airbus A319s to land safely.
The low carrier has pledged to offer services at the fare of just 32,000/-, tax and charges exclusive.
