The International Criminal Court (ICC) will on Monday next week hold a press conference on commencement of the trial cases against Deputy President William Ruto and journalist Joshua arap Sang.
The ICC Registrar Herman von Hebel will open the press conference to be held at the Press Briefing Room of the ICC in The Hague.
The ICC Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda, the Defence Counsel for Ruto, Karim Khan, the Defence Counsel for Sang, Joseph Kipchumba Kigen-Katwa, and the Legal Representative of the victims Wilfred Nderitu will then make short statements.
There will also be an opportunity for journalists attending the event to ask questions and the briefing will be web-streamed live on the ICC website. Ruto and Sang’s case is scheduled to open on September 10 in their presence. They are accused of crimes against humanity (murder, deportation or forcible transfer of population and persecution) allegedly committed during the 2007-2008 post-election violence.
The trial will be held before Trial Chamber V judges.
