Rasanga took an early lead and maintained the gap as the results for the by-elections tallying neared the end.

After tallying in majority of polling stations, ODM’s Rasanga led with 104,140 compared to NAP’s William Oduol’s 61,902. Independent Candidate Noah Migudah trailed at a distant third with 1,392 votes in 662 out of 665 polling stations.

These are provisional results projected by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission at the Siaya county tallying centre.

Most stations delivered results late after heavy rains pounded the area.

The exercise went on smoothly with just two isolated minor violence cases reported where two voters were assaulted and sustained minor injuries.

One incident occurred at Kochieng’ polling station in Alego-Usonga constituency and at Yala Township in Gem constituency.
