NEW YORK, October 1, 2013 – The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Ms. Amina Mohammed, CBS, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kenya.
The Secretary-General again expressed his condolences to the Government and people of Kenya following the terrorist attack in Nairobi, and offered any support that the UN could provide.
The Secretary-General thanked the Minister for Kenya’s continued support to stabilize the situation in Somalia. He also welcomed the recent efforts towards a tripartite agreement between the Governments of Kenya and Somalia and the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) to cooperate on voluntary refugee repatriations.
He encouraged Kenya to continue cooperating with the International Criminal Court (ICC).
