Revenue Collection Jumps 3x With NMB Electronic System

Revenue collection has doubled or tripled in most of the district, municipal and city councils after the introduction of National Microfinance Bank (NMB) e-revenue collection system.

The new system has been adopted by over 150 councils of 185 and significant changes have been noticed.

NMB Chief Internal Auditor Augustino Mbogella said huge change has been seen and in some areas the collection has been jumped to even 3m/- a day from just 450,000/-.

Minister of State in the President’s Office (Regional Administration and Local Government) George Simbachawene said the 1.5m/- collection has jumped to 5m/- after the adoption of new revenue system.

NMB added they are focused to provide such services to the government to enable achieve goals.

NMB Chief Internal Auditor Augustino Mbogella said they want to ensure the central as well as local governments achieve their objectives.

Meanwhile, Tanzania Mayors Award was held on Friday night in Musoma to award the best performing councils. A brand new tractor worth 56m/- was awarded to Ushetu District Council as it emerged as the winner of 2016’s Tanzania Mayors Award.

The award was provided by ALAT and the biggest sponsor to it was NMB. The second big sponsorer was Tanzania Standard Newspapers Limited (TSN).

Mbogella said such competition will bring positive change.

He added, “We recognize NMB as our biggest partner and the competition is essential in bringing development to people.”

Mbogella further said NMB has efficient and strong such Information and Communication Technology (ICT) system and particularly in the field of electronic collection of revenue.
