Ministry training is very important for youths since it helps inculcate good manners amid a growing tendency to acquire negative traits due to globalization.
Chief Secretary, Ambassador Ombeni Sefue
The Chief Secretary, Mr Ombeni Sefue, made the remarks in Dar es Salaam by calling on youths who get the chance to join National Service to do so wholeheartedly since it prepares them to face the effects of globalization.
He was inaugurating an exhibition to mark the 50th anniversary of National Service in Tanzania. “We have to train youths to have the spirit of patriotism, self-respect and respect for leaders and superiors without considering their ethnic groups, religions and their political and social affiliations,” said Sefue.
The Chief Secretary further said that if extra efforts are not taken to teach youths to cope with the current globalised environment the country will end up in shame and poverty as neo-colonialism will creep in.
He added that youths who complete military training were expected to be exemplary to others as they had gone through training which made them first think of the national and social interest and to treat others with equality and respect.
“We expect the training that is provided by National Service will build youths to be independent in every aspect of life, especially when it comes to the issue of employment, instead of waiting for white-collar jobs they can employ themselves and thereby reduce unemployment,” added Sefue.
Mr Sefue challenged youths to join National Service voluntarily as the training provided will help them gain new skills and facilitate their self-employment instead of engaging themselves in unlawful acts.
