Chief Secretary Ambassador Ombeni Sefue is expected to grace the Inter-Ministerial Games (Shimiwi) Bonanza to be held at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on August 24, this year.
Shimiwi Secretary General Ramadhani Sululu told the ‘Daily News on Saturday’ in the city yesterday that preparations are progressing well and the bonanza will involve Shimiwi member clubs from Coast Region and Dar es Salaam.
He said that the one-day event implements the Chief Secretary’s directive issued during a July 29, 2006 sports festival.
He added that the aim of the bonanza is also to prepare teams for the Shimiwi Games to be held in Morogoro next month.
“I want to confirm that Amb. Sefue will be with sportsmen and women at the bonanza,” said Sululu.
He said that all the necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the bonanza is successful.
“I appeal to all Shimiwi clubs from Coast and Dar es Salaam regions to turn up for the anxiously awaited bonanza,” he said.
Meanwhile, Shimiwi has convened a special meeting on August 31 in Dar es Salaam that will, among other issues, finalise preparations for this year’s games.
According to Sululu, the meeting will be attended by chairmen and secretaries of all Shimiwi clubs
