Dar es Salaam: The Simba saw a goalless draw against Mwadui FC of Shinyanga at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam in pre-season winning run, bringing their hope to an end for Mainland Premier League.
The MPL giant Simba need to now concede the defeat as they had seen record high-profile wins over URA and SC Villa earlier.
The team had five new signings including Senegalese striker Papa Nang, who recently signed a two-year deal to feature for Msimbazi Street outfit. The known faces were Ivorian goalkeeper Vincent Angban, Burundian Emery Nimubona, Zimbabwean Justice Majabvi, as well as Mwinyi Kazimoto and Musa Hassan ‘Mgosi’.
At the Mwadui’s end the starting line-up included former Yanga, Coastal Union and Mtibwa Sugar goalkeeper Shaaban Kado, ex-Simba, Yanga and Mtibwa Sugar winger Julius Mrope.
Simba will be starting its campaign away to African Sport as it kicks off on September 12. It will be a Premier League debut for Mwadui against Toto Africans at the CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza.
On the opening day seven matches will be played, writes Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) in a released fixture.
Majimaji will begin its campaign against JKT Ruvu and the Tanzania Prisons will be hosted by Azam at Azam Complex.
There will be battle between Mgambo Shooting and Ndanda at Nangwanda Sijaona Stadium in Mtwara and Mtibwa Sugar vs Stand United at Kambarage Stadium in Shinyanga on the opening day. Holders Yanga will battle against Coastal Union on the second day.
