Standard Chartered Bank’s Group CEO will be on a visit to Tanzania to see progress of the bank’s offices in the country and meet stakeholders to explore further ways of enhancing businesses.
A statement released by the Standard Chartered Bank Tanzania Limited reveals Bill Winters’ tour to the country is part of his regular visits in the region and he will be accompanied by the bank’s Kenya and East Africa Region CEO Lamin Manjang.
It is learned Winters will also be meeting the key government officials of Tanzania apart from bank’s staff and customers. He had visited the country earlier too.
Winters joined the Standard Chartered Bank’s Group in May 2015. On June 10 of the same year he was appointed as group CEO to the board of Standard Chartered PLC. Following his appointment he reviewed strategy of the bank and confirmed commitment to Africa.
Prior to joining the bank Winters spent about 26 years with JP Morgan. In 2004 he became the co-chief executive of the company and in 2009 he stepped down. The next year he was invited to become a committee member of Independent Commission on Banking and was tasked to find ways how to financial stability in banking.
In his distinguished career the CEO had served as an advisor to the Parliamentary Commission on Banking Standards too. Court of the Bank of England asked him to undertake a review of liquidity operations of the bank.
Winters is an MBA from Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his Bachelor from Colgate University.
