The Ministry of Labour and Employment has unveiled a sustainable job creation programme expected to absorb more than 30,000 youth members over a period of three years.

Graduates from higher learning institutions are targeted. The project is valued at 54.451bn/- and will be funded by government and various stakeholders.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam, the Information Officer at the Ministry Ridhiwan Wema, said that the programme will promote self employment in various sectors such as farming, fisheries, forestry, livestock keeping, processing among others.
He said that this programme will create job makers and they in turn will be able to employ 100,000 capable individuals. “The aim is to encourage more youth members to play an active role in economic activities through available manpower by promoting entrepreneurial skills, creativity, hard work and sustain a culture of result oriented performance.
Mr Wema said that job opportunities will be created as the youth will become job creators instead of being job seekers. The envisaged project will provide Integrated Cross Value Chain (ICVC) in three different phases including preparation, conservation and sales.
Expected outputs include more job opportunities in the country, reduced poverty and crime as well as check the flow of youth migrating to urban areas. Thirty thousand graduates are expected to benefit from the programme and 1,000 projects are expected to be established.
According to Mr Ridhiwan special training at Sokoine Univesity of Agriculture (SUA) in Morogoro will be provided so as to impart entrepreneural skills. It will be implemented by government in collaboration with higher learning institutions, finance institutions and other stakeholders.
