Sumbawanga council workers urged to inspect projects


The Sumbawanga District Council workers in Rukwa region have been urged not to spend more hours in offices, but instead go out and inspect the progress of various development projects.

They have been requested to stop concentrating on paper work, and visit some projects including classrooms and rehabilitation of road network that is said to be carried out unprofessionally.

Sumbawanga councillors echoed their sentiments at a special meeting held here recently to discuss and approve 2014/15 budget amounting to over 22.9bn/-.

The money is expected to be collected from various local sources, and also from Treasury. Several councillors accused Council Civil Engineer for failing to inspect several development projects, including classrooms and road construction projects.


Presenting the 2014/15 budget, the Sumbawanga District Council Director Mr Adam Missana said during this financial year, the council expects to collect and spend more than 22.9bn/-.

He further reminded the councillors that during this financial year which ends in June this year, the council has already spent over 10.2bn/-.
