NAIROBI,KENYA: Two Coast Football Kenya Federation (FKF) branches have rallied behind the federation’s President Sam Nyamweya and disowned allegations by their Nec member Hussein Terry on financial mismanagement.
“FKF South and North Coast branches would not want to be dragged into Terry’s malicious allegations of corruption at the national office,” said FKF South Coast Chairman Hamisi Mwayoyo and North Coast Secretary Raphael Mwalungo, yesterday.
“Terry must carry his own cross and take the battle elsewhere. We have resolved to pass a vote of no confidence in him as our Nec member,” said Mwayoyo.
“Terry has never missed even a single Nec meeting as per our records and we wonder why he has never raised the allegations,” said the duo.
At the same time, FKF top organ has summoned Terry to substantiate his corruption allegations against the federation.
In a joint signed statement, Nyamweya said Terry should table his claims with proof.
“Terry should resign instead of giving us a 90 day ultimatum. Terry had threatened to bring problems if left out of the Harambee Stars trip to Cosafa tournament in Zambia,” said the statement signed by Nyamweya, Robert Asembo, Doris Petra, Angeline Elijah, Elly Mukolwe and George Wanaina.
The statement alleged that Terry has been collaborating with some suspended officials and that his outburst has been triggered by the lifting of the suspensions of three officials of the federation’s South Coast branch.
“Terry instigated the suspensions of the officials unfairly last year and we realised that the allegations on the trio did not hold any water thus lifting them during our AGM,” said the statement.
Misguided utterances
“We will not relent in our objectives of changing the face of the sport and taking Kenyan football to the next level,” reiterated the statement.
“Terry’s utterances are categorised as insubordination, misguided, disrespectful and meant to bring football into disrepute,” said Mwayoyo.
Terry claimed at the weekend that there was corruption in FKF and called on the Government to intervene.
Elsewhere, several branch chairmen have condemned Terry’s allegations, which they termed as hopeless.
A statement signed by Peter Omwando (Nyanza South), Mureithi Nabea (Upper Eastern), Joseph Kaptash (North Rift), Michael Ouma (Nairobi), Martin Kiarie (Mt Kenya), Mwayoyo Hamisi (South Coast), Silvester Juma (North West Rift), Chief Nyaga (Lower Eastern), Anthony Makau (Southern and David Bunei (South Rift) demanded that Terry resigns as a Nec Member.
FeverPitch’s efforts to reach Terry on phone yesterday were fruitless.
