The Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Development, Mr David Mathayo, said the government is finalizing a programme to employ more than 2,000 livestock graduates in a bid to promote the sector.
Mr Mathayo made the pledge during his visit at Livestock Agency Tengeru Campus where he assured the students of employment once they graduated.
“We need livestock officer to develop the sector as there is acute shortage of experts and the employment will be effective next financial year,” he said.
He also reiterated the government’s commitment to improve their learning environment, including buying a bus to be used for their field trips.
Director of LITA Tengeru, Mr Elly Masam, said his colleges faces a number of challenges including shortage of tutors and buildings. Mr Masam said most dormitories and staff house were dilapidated as the majority were constructed during the colonial era.
