The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Said Mwema has decorated with medals eight police officers for commendable and exemplary long public service.
Inspector General of Police, Saidi Mwema, inspects the guard of honour before he decorated Police Officers at the event that took place in Dar es Salaam.
The ceremony was held in Dar es Salaam yesterday. “These soldiers have done a good job for a long period of time; this is due to their competence and loyalty in their work for the country’s peace, security and stability and the comfort of all citizens,” said IGP Mwema.
The police chief also urged the general public to cooperate with the police in exposing criminals at all levels, starting from village, ward, division, district, regional and national level. He mentioned the names of the officers of police and soldiers who were decorated as SACP B.
Lekey and ACP P. Byatao, SACP E.A. Mapunda. ACP C.N. Kenyela, Pf 17475 A/INSP Mawazo Mwaluka and D.4361 S/SGT Maximilian Chogero. Others are SSP Athuman Mwambalaswa and WP. 1602 SGT Martha Njau who were decorated with fourth grade torch of freedom medal.
The IGP further ordered police officers to act as a catalyst for justice which is an essential tool to maintaining of peace, unity and solidarity to all citizens in Tanzania. The Kinondoni Regional Police Commander (RPC), Charles Kenyela who was awarded with long service award in the police force, thanked President Jakaya Kikwete and IGP Mwema for recognising his contribution in serving the Tanzanian people for a long period of time.
RPC Kenyela vowed to continue with his efforts in combating crime and bring further stability in Kinondoni region. He thanked the media for providing information to the public about the police force in order to bring equality, justice and an end to violent crimes in the country
