Tanzania keen to improve cross border trade


The government has said that it will continue collaborating with private sector and other development stakeholders in implementing its responsibility to make sure that cross border trade improves.

The Permanent Secretary, Prime Minister’s Office, Dr Florens Turuka said this when officiating at a two day retreat on government Road on Improvement of the Investment Climate in Tanzania discussing ‘Trading Across Borders’ forum in Dar es Salaam on Friday.

He said that in free market economy the government’s responsibility is to create attractive and enabling environment for private sector to thrive and compete effectively for economic and social growth. “Private sector is responsible for economic growth, creation of employment opportunities and boost country’s revenue,” he said.


He added that good business and investment environment is important not only to investors but also to ordinary people who depend on the available opportunities for their survival.

He noted that a country with good business and investment environment motivates its people to contribute on national development through effective utilization of available resources. “That is why all developed nations which have created conducive business environment has succeeded economically in the world,” he said.
