Tanzania’s MP faults Kigamboni project

The Chama Cha Mapinduzi MP from Kigamboni province, Dr Faustine Ndungulile has criticized the government seriousness in constructing the new Kigamboni town.

In his Assembly contribution to the budget of Ministry of Lands, Housing and Settlements Development, which he gave copy to the media, Dr Ndungulile said the project is tough and needs more seriousness than what is shown by the government in its implementation.

He said in 2008 Kigamboni residents were stopped to conduct any development activities with the reason that the project could start within 2 years but until now 4 years have passed and nothing has been done in the project.

“Honourable chairperson, Kigamboni residents want to know four things, first, when the project will start, where the project will start, what are their rights in the project and their outcome.

The MP did not support the budget and ordered two things to be done for him to support it, the Kigamboni citizens have to benefit from the project and they should not be disturbed by the project.

The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Settlements Development budget was presented on 11Th, July by the Minister Prof Ana Tibaijuka who said the Kigamboni project needs more than Tsh. 600 Billion for the first phase while the government has prepared only Tsh. 60 Billion . She promised that the Ministry will work hard to get fund out of budget to fill the gap.
